 MEMBERS PRESENT: Kathy Nixon-Turner, Karen Gray, Kitty Johnson, Sarah Getzler, and Barbara Friedman.

 REPORT OF THE SECRETARY: No Board meeting in August, 2005. Had a request for a donation to the trophy fund for the Alabama Dachshund Club.

 REPORT OF THE TREASURER: Amount of account is $2, 175.83.

 REPORT OF COMMITTEES: None.

 REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT: None

NEW BUSINESS: Sarah Getzler suggested that a donation be made for the animal victims of hurricane Katrina. Decided on EARS and Noah’s Wish. Kitty Johnson suggested a $100.00 donation to each group. Also agreed to give $25.00 to the trophy fund for the Alabama Dachshund Club .

 Meeting adjourned at 7:30 PM.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Barbara Friedman,  Karen Gray, Kitty Johnson, Carolyn Montgomery, Alan Bower, Lesley Andrews, Mary Ann Massie, Kathy Nixon-Turner, Ann/Stanley Reed, Sherry Sackett, Priscilla Tudor, and visitor Linda Vargas,

MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING: Minutes of the meeting on Sunday, August 21, 2005 were read and approved.

REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT: Barbara thanked everyone for coming to the meeting and looks forward to a good year for the club..

REPORT OF THE SECRETARY: Read minutes. Board discussed  making donations to victim of hurricane Katrina. Suggestions for  EARS, and Noah’s Wish. Club voted to send a $100 donation to each. Board discussed making a donation of $25.00 the Alabama Dachshund Club and the membership voted to accept. These letters with donations were sent 9/20/05. Also sent an information letter to our visitor who filled out a membership application. Sent in to the AKC the list of club officers for 2005/06.

REPORT OF THE TREASURER: Karen Gray said that our balance is  $2175.83. More will be deposited in the form of member’s dues and sales from the bumper stickers. Dues forms were distributed for 2005-06. Bumper stickers cost $300.00 have made a $95.00 profit.

REPORT OF THE COMMITTEES: Claire Carter, Rescue; in Clair’s absence members voted to send donations to EARS and Noah’s Wish. Sarah Getzler, Breeder Referral; has received inquiries so sure to tell her if you have puppies/dogs. Mary Anne Massie, Newsletter; articles are due the first week in October, will let secretary know when it is posted on the website. Alan Bower, Hospitality; Alan thanked everyone for all that they contributed to the meeting tonight. Kitty Johnson, Sun Shine; cards sent to members who were ill and a fruit basket to Dr. Judith Brown. Barbara Friedman, Membership; potential member coming to the meeting tonight. Sherry Sackett, Region V; Region V hosts the DCA meeting at Callaway Gardens in Georgia, 2006. She checked to see what our club’s obligations might be. Suggested that we help with a breakfast with another club. Nothing else yet. MaryAnne Teal has been doing the Website. Sherry Sackett, Show Committee; need to make a decision on the 2008 Speciality and submit a list of judges. Will vote on the 2008 Specialty at the October member meeting. Members need to submit nominations for a Sweeps judge for 2006. Judge for the 2006 VKC Speciality is Pat Trotter and Jeffrey Pepper for the Sunday, supported entry show. Alan will due the luncheon for the 2006 show. There was discussion that the Board members should not show in point shows. Who will do the trophies and Sherry will send out a request for members for this committee.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Vote on the slate which was as follows: Barbara Friedman President, Sarah Getzler Vice President, Kitty Johnson Secretary, Karen Gray Treasurer, Board members,  Alan Bower, Janet Mauldin, and Kathy Nixon-Turner. Sherry Sackett moved the slate be accepted and it was seconded by Ann Reed. The members voted to accept the slate..

NEW BUSINESS: Barbara is working on a practice Earth Dog clinic at Ed Bear’s Palmyra location.

ADJOURNMENT: voted to adjourn.
